The study of air accidents and incidents pinpoints that the technical skills were just a part of performance during a flight operation. The majority of problems were due to communication rather than technical difficulties. Even if there is a critical situation associated with technical failures, a good communication can transmute the perilous state. Crew Resource Management emerged to reduce human errors. Despite its effectiveness there is a scarcity of resources and research about the ‘Aviation Communication’ and the gap between theory and practice is wider in communication than any other facet of aviation. Using extensive authentic data and applying Discourse Analysis based on theoretical perspectives, the author has strived to indicate the characteristics of aviation communication and the nuances of language along with the underlying reasons of air accidents and incidents from a communicative standpoint. This book would be of interest to Air Accident and Incident Investigators, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Air Traffic Controllers, Flight Dispatchers, Pilots, Flight Attendants, Trainers, linguists and so on.
