The publication first discusses the basic requirements that must be met for an energy recovery system to be energetically efficient. The theoretical fundamentals of energy recovery are explained, as is the methodology of abstract description of technical systems that facilitates the analysis of existing system. For a classification of the various strategies for developing a hydraulic energy recovery system, a systematics is introduced that classifies recuperative hydraulic drives according to certain criteria and is based on research findings of the past few years (these are included in the bibliography). Investigations were then carried out on a valve-controlled hydraulic drive. The setup and control methods of the system are described, as is the modelling procedure and the simulation models. The energy conservation potential of the drive was simulated for characteristic load states of two drives using different operating strategies. The evaluation of the results showed that in each case, great differences in energy conservation may be found depending on the operating strategy that is employed. In certain conditions, the optimal operating strategy saved more than 60 percent of energy as compared to the less favourable strategy. | |
